TERMS & CONDITIONS
The boring-but-important bit.
Welcome to Adam Hardaker Books. These terms explain the rules for using this website and, where available, buying books or other products directly from me.
I've tried to keep them in normal English. There are enough complicated plots around here already.

MAIN TERMS
1. ABOUT THIS WEBSITE
This website, adamhardaker.com, is the official website of author Adam Hardaker.
Throughout these terms, references to “I”, “me” or “my” mean Adam Hardaker. References to “you” mean anyone visiting or using the website or purchasing products through it.
The website provides information about my books, writing, events and other projects and may also allow you to purchase books, signed editions, bundles, merchandise or other products directly from me.
By using the website, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.
Nothing sinister. Basically, use the site normally and we'll get along just fine.
2. BOOKS & PRODUCTS
I do my best to make sure descriptions, photographs, prices and other product information are accurate.
Because many of the books sold directly through this website may be signed, handled or packed personally, there can occasionally be small differences between photographs and the item you receive.
A signature may also vary slightly from book to book.
That's handwriting for you.
Any significant differences or special conditions will be made clear on the relevant product page.
3. PRICES & PAYMENT
All prices will be displayed in pounds sterling (£) unless stated otherwise.
The total price payable, including any applicable delivery charge, will be shown before you complete your purchase.
Payment must be successfully authorised before an order is processed.
I reserve the right to correct genuine pricing or listing errors. If an error affects an order you've already placed, I'll contact you before proceeding.
4. ORDERS
Placing an order does not automatically mean that it has been accepted.
An order is accepted when I confirm it and/or begin processing it for dispatch.
Very occasionally, I may need to cancel an order because an item is unavailable, there has been a pricing error, payment has failed or something else has gone spectacularly sideways.
If I cancel an order after payment has been taken, you'll receive a refund of the amount paid.
5. SIGNED & PERSONALISED BOOKS
Some books may be available signed or personalised.
Please check any name, dedication or personalisation request carefully before submitting your order.
If I've been asked to write “Happy Birthday Catherine” and you actually meant Kathryn, there's unfortunately only so much literary talent can fix.
Where an item has been made or personalised specifically for you, statutory cancellation rights may not apply in the same way as they do to standard goods. This does not affect your rights where an item is faulty, damaged or not as described.
6. DELIVERY
Estimated dispatch and delivery information will be provided where applicable.
Delivery times are estimates rather than guarantees unless expressly stated otherwise.
Once an order has been dispatched, delays caused by postal or courier services may be outside my control. If an order appears to be lost or arrives damaged, contact me and I'll help resolve it.
Please make sure the delivery address supplied with your order is correct.
Books are quite good.
Books being delivered to somebody else's house are less useful.
7. PRE-ORDERS
Products offered for pre-order will display an expected publication or dispatch date wherever possible.
Publication and delivery dates can occasionally change.
If a significant change affects your pre-order, I'll provide updated information where reasonably possible.
Payment arrangements for pre-orders will be explained when ordering.
8. CANCELLATIONS, RETURNS & REFUNDS
Your statutory consumer rights are not affected by these terms.
Where UK consumer law gives you a right to cancel an online purchase, you may exercise that right within the applicable cancellation period.
Different rules may apply to personalised or bespoke products.
Products that are faulty, damaged or not as described will be dealt with in accordance with your statutory rights.
Full information about returns, cancellations and refunds is available in the Returns & Refunds Policy.
9. COPYRIGHT & MY WORK
Unless otherwise stated, the original written content on this website — including book extracts, descriptions, articles and other material created by me — is protected by copyright.
My books and substantial extracts from them may not be copied, reproduced, republished, distributed or commercially exploited without permission, except where permitted by law.
Logos, artwork, photography and other material may also be protected by copyright or other intellectual property rights belonging to me or their respective owners.
Sharing a link to something I've written is absolutely fine.
Copying half a novel and claiming you had a remarkably productive Tuesday isn't.
10. REVIEWS & READER COMMENTS
Where reader reviews or quotations appear on this website, they represent the views of the individual reviewer.
Reviews may be shortened for layout or presentation, but I will not intentionally alter their meaning.
A five-star review remains very welcome.
11. THIRD-PARTY WEBSITES
This website may contain links to Amazon, independent bookshops, social media platforms, podcast services, charities and other third-party websites.
Those websites operate independently and have their own terms, privacy policies and purchasing arrangements.
If you purchase one of my books from another retailer, your transaction is with that retailer and their terms will normally apply.
12. WEBSITE AVAILABILITY
I try to keep the website accurate, secure and available.
However, I cannot guarantee that it will always operate without interruption or error. Pages may occasionally be updated, removed or temporarily unavailable.
Even websites occasionally need a lie down.
13. LIABILITY
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability that cannot legally be excluded under applicable consumer law.
Subject to those rights, I am not responsible for losses caused by circumstances outside my reasonable control or for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when you used the website or entered into a contract with me.
Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
14. PRIVACY & COOKIES
Information about how personal information is collected and used is contained in the Privacy Policy.
Information about cookies and similar technologies is contained in the Cookie Policy.
By using contact forms, newsletter sign-ups or purchasing facilities, information may be processed as described in those policies.
15. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS
These Terms & Conditions may occasionally be updated to reflect changes to the website, products, services or applicable law.
The latest version will always be published on this page together with its revision date.
16. GOVERNING LAW
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
If you are a consumer, you will also retain any protections provided by the mandatory laws applicable to you.
Any disputes will be dealt with by the courts that have jurisdiction under applicable law.
17. CONTACT
If you have a question about an order, these terms or anything else relating to the website, please use the Contact page.
I'll do my best to sort genuine problems without requiring anyone to shout “I KNOW MY RIGHTS” at their laptop.
STILL WITH ME?
Frankly, if you've read every word, you've shown enough commitment to tackle The Buried Chronicles.
